President ArnieVinick has resigned following his public admittance that he accepted bribes during his tenure. Pursuant to the Presidential Line of Succession, United States Code and Constitution, Vice President LordDeathTheReaper has succeeded to the presidency.
In a statement, President LordDeathTheReaper thanked the former President for his service to the country and for choosing him as his running mate. He also condemned the outgoing President for his actions but wished him well in his future endeavors, citing that he has been a "tremendous friend". He went on to say that there is a lot of work to be done, including that the United States is "at a crossroads" and "it is time to tone down the divisive rhetoric in this community". He ended by saying that he wishes for all Americans to work with him.
With the Vice Presidency currently vacant, Speaker of the House of Representatives LeoVinick is now first in line to the presidency. There is also currently two vacancies in the line of succession — the Cabinet positions of Secretary of Homeland Security and Secretary of Commerce and Labor. Neither position has a Senate-confirmed leader. The acting leaders of Homeland Security are Chiefs of Staff RoyaltySyn and PatriotCulture with LordEyeWise as Deputy Secretary-nominee. For the Department of Commerce and Labor, Deputy Secretary SirWilliam_Dravas remains in-charge.
